I lived in Incline Village for many years and recently moved to Reno. I am in sales and seem to attract all kinds. I felt defenseless, self protection became a priority. I purchased mace and a police knight stick. I was still concerned with my safety. The knight stick and mace allowed a possible predator to get too close for my comfort, I was worried the weapons would be taken from me and used on me. I thought about purchasing a firearm and taking the class to get a permit. I have to admit, I really did not want to carry a gun, I don’t want to hurt or kill anyone or anything! However, I don’t want to be the victim of violent crime either! Then I met Mary Kelly, Founder of Defend–Her. Net. Mary is very knowledgeable with her background in law enforcement, she is aware of the dangers women face every day! That first meeting was an eye opener. I encouraged my daughter to host a free taser demonstration with Defend - Her, it was like a mini self defense class and allowed me and my daughter try the taser. The demonstration was awesome! I was able to hold the taser, shoot it and know what to do with it in case of danger. I purchased two tasers that evening one for my daughter and one for myself. I feel relieved! I feel like I have a fighting chance when I am alone. I feel comfortable knowing that the taser has stopping power but it is not deadly! I can honestly say the taser has been one of the best investments I have ever made!
